Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons foodies extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

  5. Shape the Dough: Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide it into two equal portions if making two pizzas. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

  6. Second Rise (Optional): For a fluffier crust, let the shaped dough rest for another 15-20 minutes before adding toppings.

  7. Add Toppings and Bake: Preheat your oven to 245°C. Add your favorite toppings to the dough and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
