Our Story
NZ Premium Foods was established in 2008 by Rachael Speedy and a friend, passionate foodies both growing up on farms in southern Hawke's Bay. Rachael set about sharing her passion for supplying good quality food, food as it should be.
Set up predominantly to supply the foodservice and manufacturing sectors with premium local food, NZ Premium foods has since built a formidable reputation supplying customers both locally and internationally.
What evolved from humble beginnings is now an iconic brand, foodies for food lovers, which has achieved local and international recognition for its supreme quality, and freshness. The company has significantly expanded and is now able to offer a range of premium products offering pure, fresh and incredible-tasting cuisine. Food with nothing it shouldn’t contain. Food, as food was intended.
We are an ethical and sustainable business caring for our people. This includes our Tamariki at the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra through orchestral music making, and Attainable Trust where our products are packed giving people with disabilities employment and an opportunity to learn new skills.
We have been supplying the Foodservice sector for several years and are market leaders with our foodies Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil because we only use the current season’s olives. Olive oil is fresh and as we know ‘Fresh is Best’. And, the 5 litre container is made from recycled PET 1 and can be recycled.
We are also market leads with our foodies Pure New Zealand Flaky Sea Salt which is completely sustainable from the sundried seabed of Marlborough. A natural process that takes two years to produce, this highly prized salt is used by chefs and cooks alike.
